Zums
A reward app that lets Gen Z gamers earn real money by playing games and finishing daily challenges, designed to feel like an arcade, not a utility.
Get-paid-to apps people do not trust
Zums gamifies the side hustle: users earn real rewards by playing games and completing daily challenges, all in one place.
The get-paid-to industry is known for poor UX. Competitor apps suffer from chaotic layouts, intrusive ads and vague reward systems. That clutter creates cognitive overload, makes users doubt the app is legitimate and drives churn.
Earning that feels like a game
Zums flips the script by treating earning like a game. A strict bento grid organizes offer walls cleanly, paired with a high-contrast "dopamine design" system. Progression bars, streaks and clear USD values turn routine tasks into quests.
To resonate with Gen Z we moved away from sterile corporate aesthetics: the wide, eccentric Unbounded typeface with a high-voltage palette of yellow, blue, green and purple. The work ran in four phases: discovery and strategy in the get-paid-to market, information architecture for the path from discovering games to cashing out, visual development with a dark mode, neon accents and 3D elements, then interaction and polish with satisfying micro-interactions for every press and reward claim.
